Today we are all Ukrainians 💙💛

The Ukrainian diaspore in Vienna created a crisis team on the first day of the war due to the Russian Federation’s excessive attacks against Ukraine. This crisis team operates in three directions: Humanitarian aid, support for refugees and political & communicative alignment.

In these exact hours, some hundreds of kilometres East from the peaceful and calm Austria, Ukraine is on fire, the capital city Kyiv is surrounded by Russian troops, thousands of civilians have no other choice but to flee from the enemy. A situation in a form that has been unknown in Europe ever since World War II.

At that time, we, all Europeans said - “Never again!”

But now, a country that is geographically closer to Vienna than Bregenz, is being brutally attacked by Russia. Putin is trying to defeat and absorb the democratic Ukraine with his military dominance and advantage. He is being supported by a press that has been brought into line for years, including unprecedented propaganda in their own country as well as worldwide.

The Ukrainians are performing an unexpected, enormous and heroic resistance.

Tens of thousands of men are volunteering to defend and protect their country against the intended Russia occupation. At the moment it is still possible to stop the invasion by one of the biggest militaries in the world.

However, there is a lack of armoured vests, protective helmets and other equipment, bandages, medicine but also defensive weapons to hold back the enemy. We are aware that Austria is committed to neutrality thus it has its limits to act. But what can be done should be quick and unbureaucratic.

We, the Ukrainian community in Austria, have a big favour to ask – help us by any means you can!

In cooperation with the Ukrainian embassy in Vienna, numerous Ukrainian associations and activists we are aiming for the fastest transport to Ukraine and also to the frontlines.

We will protect our country ourselves against the enemy, as long as we are able to, but PLEASE, support us in whatever way you can!

The more effective and determined we hold up the Russian occupiers,  the more hope there is that this aggression stops and that there will be peace in Europe once and for all. A chance for the soldiers and volunteers, women and children to survive and for other Ukrainians to return home.

Please help us to stop this war and allow us for a new start with a promising future.
