Special screenings of the film “Bucha” organized by the OSCE took place in Vienna

 

The nationwide screening of the film “Bucha” continues. On November 19 and 20, special screenings of the film took place in Vienna, Austria.

The screenings, dedicated to 1,000 days since the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, were organized by the Missions of the United States, the European Union, and Ukraine to the OSCE, the Embassy of Ukraine in Austria, in partnership with the NGO Unlimited Democracy.

“Bucha” tells the true story of volunteer Konstantin Gudauskas. He is a citizen of Kazakhstan who has been living in Ukraine since 2021. It was his Kazakh passport that helped him overcome Russian checkpoints and evacuate people. During the Russian occupation of the Kyiv region in the spring of 2022, he saved 203 civilians, including the family of Ukrainian composer Igor Poklad.

The main role in the film was played by the famous Polish theater and film actor Cezary Lukashevych. Also in the film were played by Vyacheslav Dovzhenko, Artemiy Yegorov, Sergey Strelnikov, Oleksandr Pecheritsa, Anastasia Nesterenko, Nikon Fedotov, Sergey Smiyan, Tetyana Vashnevskaya and others. The film was directed by Stanislav Tiunov, and the screenwriter and producer was Oleksandr Shchur.

The film “Bucha” was shot without state funding, only with donations and private funds from caring people from Ukraine, Poland, Canada and the USA.

The music for the film was written by Azerbaijani composer and producer, Eurovision winner Isa Melikov. The author of the official soundtrack “April” was Ukrainian musician Roman Bakharev and the band BAH.ROMA.

The world premiere of the film took place at the Warsaw Film Festival, where “Bucha” took second place in terms of audience sympathy.
